Dorota Praszałowicz is Professor of Sociology at the Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland. She is Chair of Contemporary Migrations and Ethnic Studies at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora. She is the editor in chief of Studia Migracyjne – Przegląd Polonijny (Migration Studies – Review of the Polish Diaspora) – a Polish language quarterly published by Polish Academy of Sciences. She is the editor of book series entitled Migration – Ethnicity – Nation: Studies in Culture, Society & Politics, published by Peter Lang Verlag. In 2003/2004 she was a Fulbright Scholar at the New York University. One of her research projects is: <Old neighbours> in the New World: Poles, Germans, Jews and Ukrainians in Manhattan.
