Eurosensors XXXVII, a premier European forum for sensor science and  technology

The Eurosensors conference series has, over the past decades, established itself as the foremost European forum dedicated to sensors, actuators, microsystems, and nanosystems. With each edition, it affirms its role as a crucible for innovation—drawing together leading minds from across disciplines and sectors to explore the latest advances in sensor-related science and engineering.

This year, Eurosensors 2025 will take place from the 7th until the the 10th of  September in the historic academic city of Wrocław, Poland, a setting that promises not only intellectual stimulation but cultural richness and scientific hospitality. Hosted in a city renowned for its universities and vibrant scientific community, this edition aspires to be among the most impactful in the series’ distinguished history.

A Convergence of Excellence

Eurosensors attracts a broad international audience, with participants from across Europe and beyond—including Australia, Japan, China, India, Israel, and the United States. It offers a unique opportunity for researchers, engineers, and technologists from academia, national laboratories, and industry to engage in meaningful dialogue, present novel results, and cultivate collaborations.

As noted by the Conference Chair, Professor Rafał Walczak, the 2025 edition welcomes contributions spanning the full spectrum of sensor research. Particular emphasis will be placed on developments in solid-state sensors and actuators, micro and nanosystems, and the emerging frontiers of quantum sensing and space instrumentation.

Scientific Programme

The scientific programme of Eurosensors 2025 has been curated to reflect both disciplinary depth and technological breadth. Highlights include:

• Plenary and keynote lectures by internationally recognised leaders in sensor science
• Oral and poster presentations from across academia and industry
• A dedicated Eurosensors School on “New Space: Space Exploration and Sensor Technology”, aimed at early-career researchers and advanced students
• A strong emphasis on cross-disciplinary innovation, connecting materials science, chemistry, physics, electronics, biomedical engineering, and information technology
• Industrial exhibitions and demonstrations, offering insights into applied and emerging sensor technologies

Academia Europaea Plenary Lecture

Academia Europaea is honoured to host a featured plenary session during the conference, to be delivered by Professor Anne L’Huillier, Nobel Laureate in Physics (2023) and distinguished member of Academia Europaea. Her lecture, “Attosecond Pulses of Light for the Study of Electron Dynamics in Atoms,” will explore he physics of ultrafast phenomena and highlight the experimental techniques that have transformed our understanding of electron dynamics.

Anne L’Huillier is a French/Swedish physicist at Lund University, Lund, Sweden. She began her career at the Commissariat à l’énergie atomique in Saclay, France, first as a PhD student and then as a permanent researcher. In 1995, she moved to Lund University and became a full professor in 1997. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2023 together with Pierre Agostini and Ferenc Krausz “for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter”.

Joining the plenary programme are a number of eminent speakers whose contributions continue to shape the landscape of sensing and microsystem technologies:

• Piotr Dziuban – Creotech Instruments, Poland (quantum and space systems)
• Stephan Majoni – Bosch MEMS Foundry, Germany (development and production of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) 
• Vincent Ch. Lee – National University of Singapore (Technologies for MEMS/NEMS, photonics, THz, energy harvesting, microfluidics, and biomedical sensing)
• Andreas Güntner – ETH Zurich, Switzerland (advanced gas sensing and nanomaterials)
