Seasonal Greetings
Dear Members of Academia Europaea,
As the year 2025 draws to a close, we find ourselves in an age marked by turbulence and transformation. The world around us is evolving with unprecedented speed, technological revolutions are reshaping our lives and global events continue to test our resilience. In these rapidly changing times, knowledge and collaboration are not mere privileges but essential foundations for our shared future. Academia Europaea remains a pillar of intellectual courage, openness, and multidisciplinary excellence.
During the passing year our community once again proved the strength of shared curiosity and cooperation. Through a remarkable spectrum of scientific events and international initiatives, Wrocław Hub reinforced its role as a bridge uniting disciplines, generations and institutions across Europe.
A true highlight of the year was the Open Talk by Professor Anne L’Huillier, the 2023 Nobel Laureate in Physics and esteemed member of Academia Europaea. Her lecture, “Attosecond Pulses of Light for the Study of Electron Dynamics in Atoms” unveiled the beauty and complexity of ultrafast processes at the heart of matter—an inspiring reminder that even the smallest movements in the quantum realm can illuminate vast frontiers of science.
Our flagship Interdisciplinary Scientific Seminar series continued to flourish, hosting distinguished voices such as Prof. Don Dingwell, Prof. Eske Willerslev, Prof. Jacek Kowalkiewicz, Prof. Rafał Weron, Prof. Lisa Barrett, Prof. Leszek Koczanowicz and Prof. Günther Hasinger. Together, they explored frontiers ranging from ancient genomics and artificial intelligence to the science of emotion, astrophysics and the future of collaboration itself. Each seminar reaffirmed Academia Europaea’s mission: to spark dialogue across boundaries and to cultivate a culture where science speaks in many languages—but with one shared purpose.
We also deepened our commitment to equality and inclusion through the international panel “Bridging the Gap: Advancing Women’s Careers in Academia and Beyond,” organized jointly with the Budapest Hub. This initiative not only spotlighted systemic support for women in science, but also marked a meaningful step toward closer cooperation between our Hubs—an alliance whose fruits, I trust, will ripen in the near future.
Equally significant was the Interdisciplinarity Workshop “New Networks of Knowledge”, dedicated to early-career researchers. Designed as a true laboratory of ideas, it encouraged young scientists to think across disciplines, challenge traditional research models and explore what makes collaboration genuinely work. In doing so, participants embodied the future of academia—flexibility, connection and sense of purpose rather than convention.
Throughout the year, our Hub also co-organized a number of collaborative academic events, including the Neobaroque and/in the Contemporary World Conference: “Mediatization Research Workshop: Youth, Sports, and Media” and the “Energy Finance Christmas Workshop (EFC2025)”. Each initiative strengthened our bonds with partner institutions, enriching the European research landscape. Our annual Christmas Meeting of Polish AE Members once again will provide a cherished opportunity to celebrate shared achievements and enduring academic friendships.
Looking ahead, we remain committed to expanding interdisciplinarity, strengthening international cooperation and enhancing the visibility of Academia Europaea’s work. In 2026 we will continue to explore the most pressing themes of our time: AI, health and energy, while building stronger ties across AE Hubs and ensuring that equality and diversity remain central to our mission.
As we stand on the threshold of another year of discovery, I extend my sincere gratitude to all members of Academia Europaea. Your commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering intellectual exchange, and addressing critical issues continues to guide and unite us. Through your dedication, creativity, and collaboration, you shape not only the future of science but also the future of our shared world.
