Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs elected Wrocław Tech Rector
On June 25, the Academic Director of the Wrocław Hub, Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs, was elected Rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology for the 2020-2024 term. Rector elect will officially begin heading the university on September 1.
Professor Arkadiusz Wójs would be the 15th rector in the history of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. At 49, he would also be the youngest elected Rector.
During his scientific career, Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs had also worked at the National Research Council of Canada, the University of Tennessee, and the University of Cambridge. He had delivered lectures at many universities in different parts of the world.
Before becoming elected Rector, Prof. Wójs held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology.
Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs was elected Academia Member in 2017. Since 2018, he has held the position of Academic Director of the Wrocław Knowledge Hub of Academia Europaea.
The new Rector is the son of Prof. Kazimierz Wójs and attorney Dorota Wójs. Married to Gabriela, he has a daughter, Natalia, and a dog called Bourbon.
As his biographical entry reads, he is interested in the whole world, and above all – the subtle connections between science, art, and the human mind. His passions are people and music, which is why as a music lover’s card holder he attends most concerts organised at the National Forum of Music. In his spare time, he plays tennis, jogs, swims, and reads.
